Looking at Europe, staying in Calabria
Calabresi Creativi was founded in 2012 to increase the territory value by exploiting the potential of Web 2.0. The initiative is based on the idea that innovation is not only technology, but also sharing, collaboration and networking of cultures and resources. For this reason, the association promotes synergies, online and offline open spaces and digital literacy.
To improve the tourist offer of a destination, Calabresi Creativi launched SmartDmo, a project aimed at encouraging networking and cooperation among DMO (Destination Management Organisations) – local organizations which design tourist offer and implement it on the market - stakeholders and inhabitants of a region.
The project is focused on forming a community of experts able to dialogue online and offline with real and potential tourists, by promoting the use of digital technologies in facilities related to the tourist field.
SmartDMO is one of the winning projects of 2012 Social innovation call funded by the Ministry of Education, University and Research under the National Operative Programme for Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013. Introduced at Smart City Exhibition held in Bologna in October 2013, SmartDMO participated to VII edition of Sino Italian Exchange Event and IV edition of China Italy Innovation Forum in November, 2013.
After a test in Parco della Sila, the SmartDMO platform will be tested in Piedmont.
For implementing the SmartDMO project, Calabresi Creativi will partner with Assessorato al Turismo Regione Calabria, Sviluppo Piemonte Turismo, Associazione Le Terre di Savoia, Ente Turismo Alba Bra Langhe e Roero and BTO Educational.
