Women and Innovation: Women Innovators Prize 2018 now launched
The European Commission has recently launched the fifth edition of the EU Prize for Women Innovators, the initiative aimed at awarding women with a strong entrepreneurial spirit who have developed important innovations and brought them on the market.
Three awards will be assigned: the first one worth 100,000 euro, the second one worth 50,000 euro, and the third one worth 30,000 euro. A special award, called Rising Innovator Award of 20,000 euro, will be dedicated to a special innovation talent aged less than 30 years, in the early stage of her career.
The competition is open to women from the European Union – or from countries associated with the Horizon 2020 Programme for Research Innovation – who have founded or co-founded their companies before 1 January 2016. Applicants and their companies must have benefited from public or private funds for research and innovation.
Applications to compete in the award shall be submitted no later than 15 November 2017, according to the Rules of Contest. A high-level jury will evaluate and select the four winners who will be announced on 8 March 2018 on the occasion of International Women's Day.
