Sustainable mobility in Friuli: NeMo project now underway
Friuli Venezia Giulia is at the forefront in Europe in low carbon-emission economy thanks to the NeMo FVG (New Mobility in Friuli Venezia Giulia) project funded with 900,000 euro of EU funds under the Horizon 2020 programme.
This project, launched on 5 June 2017, will allow to buy, lease or use with a car-sharing approach 560 electric cars which will replace 800 polluting and obsolete vehicles belonging to the public institutions of Friuli Venezia Giulia that will be dismissed.
The NeMo project aims at transforming Friuli Venezia Giulia into an experimental lab starting from the needs of the regional public administrations.
On 2 August, NeMo, carried out in partnership by Regione FVG, AREA Science Park, University of Trieste, BIT– Servizi per l’investimento sul territorio S.P.A., ANIASA and Promoscience, will be at the Italy pavilion of the Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan, the theme of which is “Future energy”, having been selected as a particularly innovative project.
“With the NeMo FVG project ─ said Sara Vito, regional advisor on Environment and Energy ─ we take more than a challenge. First of all, the environmental challenge: we are working to improve the quality of air in our urban centres and, therefore, the quality of life in our region. Then, we are trying to spread innovation locally, to generate growth and development opportunities and, consequently, also new jobs. And we can do all this ─ she added ─ thanks to the active collaboration of public and private partners that are expert in sustainable mobility and will be, along with Regione Friuli, the main actors of this big challenge that is also a cultural revolution”.
