Space: signed cooperation agreement with China

Space exploration, accompanied by the development of projects of common interest and space activities for peaceful purposes are the themes at the centre of a recent Framework Agreement of Cooperation between the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Agreement was signed in Rome by the presidents of the two agencies, Roberto Battiston and Chin Li Bai, respectively.

The collaboration aims, in particular, at the implementation of cooperation projects in different areas: from space science to technology and innovation in the biomedical field, from Earth observation to geodesy and remote sensing. Exchanges in the field of education at various levels are also included. Under the agreement, joint research activities will also be promoted, as well as the mutual transfer of data and information, exchange of experts and training of specialists and a joint programming of meetings and workshops.

“It is a very important and farsighted agreement – said ASI President Roberto Battiston – It is, in fact, no longer possible to think about the future of space exploration without the cooperation of all the countries involved, especially China”.
