Space education: the 2017 edition of Mission X begins
It is almost time for the 2017 edition of “Mission X-Train Like an Astronaut”: the international educational programme on the theme of exercise and healthy nutrition, which encourages students to train like an astronaut, in Italy coordinated by the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
Registration for the new edition of the programme – intended for students in the last three classes of primary school and all classes of low secondary school, that is, students aged 8-13 years – is open until 15 November 2016. Applications must be submitted by teachers interested in participating with one or more classes, following the instructions available in the ASI dedicated webpage of the initiative.
By completing workouts and training missions, students – organized in teams– will learn how to take care of themselves and improve physical strength, endurance, coordination, balance, and deepen their knowledge of life in Space. Participating teams will be invited to the final event that will take place in spring in Rome, at ASI, which may give them the opportunity to meet real astronauts, as in the previous editions when students met Luca Parmitano, Samantha Cristoforetti and Roberto Vittori, and connect with Paolo Nespoli and André Kuipers on board the International Space Station.
