Space: collaboration agreement signed between Italy and Argentina
The collaboration between Italy and Argentina in the field of Space has been reinforced by a new agreement between the two countries: a letter of intent signed by the President of the Italian Space agency (ASI), Roberto Battiston, and the Minister of Research and President of the Argentinian Space Agency (CONAE), Lino Baranao.
The agreement was signed as part of the business mission led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE), Ivan Scalfarotto, which involved an Italian delegation of 120 companies and 30 universities, besides ASI.
The agreement renews and extends, in particular, the use of the Italo-Argentine Satellite System for Emergency Management (SIASGE) for Earth observation, which will respond to the different needs of civil communities in the sectors of monitoring and management of environmental risks and emergency management, with applications in both the scientific and commercial sectors. In this regard, the representatives of the two countries reaffirmed their mutual interest in promoting the joint marketing of SIASGE data around the world, committing to expanding cooperation to the second generation of their respective satellite systems, COSMO SkyMEd and SACOM.
