Social Innovation Competition, registration for the 2018 edition is now open

Social Innovation Competition, registration for the 2018 edition is now open

The role of young people in a changing world. This is the theme of the 2018 edition of the Social Innovation Competition, the annual initiative promoted by the European Commission.

Registration is now open. There are 3 prizes worth 50,000 euro each. The competition is open to social innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, students, designers, tech enthusiasts, educators, makers, and people interested in promoting change.

The 2018 edition focuses on the players of the future. Young people should be able to fully participate in the economy, acquiring the skills required by the market, having access to a well-paid, rewarding job and creating value for themselves and their communities. But the economy is changing. New technologies, different ways of working, phenomena with an impact on the life of communities and regions – such as migration – create opportunities and new challenges to be faced.

The Social Innovation Competition invites participants to turn local challenges into new economic opportunities for young people. Solutions may include:

  • initiatives that use new technologies and ways of working to provide young people with new opportunities;
  • ideas co-created with young people to respond to specific requirements in their local communities;
  • solutions to improve the quality of life and financial security of youth in irregular work;
  • programmes that equip the next generation of workers with skills needed to harness technological change.

The deadline for application is 27 April 2018. Registration for the competition must be made through the dedicated website.
