Professor Danovaro new President of Anton Dohrn Zoological Station
Professor Roberto Danovaro, Director of the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences at the Polytechnic University of Marche, has been appointed President of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station by Minister of Education, University and Research, Maria Chiara Carrozza.
High scientific qualification and several years of experience in the management of research bodies are among the requirements leading to Danovaro's appointment, at the end of a procedure which included the setting up of Selection Committee coordinated by Professor Fabio Beltram, Director of Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. Based on the CVs received, the Committee identified five candidates proposed to the Minister who appointed Danovaro new President of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station.
Born in Genova in 1966, biologist, professor Danovaro has been university professor since 1998. From 2005 to 2011, he has been Director of the Department of Marine and Environmental Ethics Science at the Polytechnic University of Marche where he is currently Rector’s delegate for research. He participated to international research projects and was awarded the Protection of the Environment Prize – ENI Award 2013, receiving a medal from President of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano.
