New robotics and industrial automation research laboratory
The University of Bologna and the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Systems and Technologies for Advanced Manufacturing (STIIMA) of the National Research Council have signed an implementing agreement for the creation of a joint research laboratory in the field of robotics and industrial automation.
The laboratory activities will focus on the development of sensors and actuators to be integrated into robotic devices, with potential applications in a variety of fields, such as packaging, remanufacturing and reuse of integrated circuits used in electronics, automation of handling and processing processes, collaborative robotics, handling and assembly of miniaturized components.
The laboratory will have two locations: one in the Nuclear Engineering Laboratory area of Montecuccolino, near Bologna, and the other one at the STIIMA-CNR premises in Lecco. The two sites will mutually benefit from the equipment and personnel, fostering participation in research and development activities within regional, national and international scientific and technological cooperation programmes.
