Mediterranean Area, over 50 million for PRIMA programme 2018 calls
The 2018 calls under PRIMA, the Partnership on Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area, have been recently published online.
Universities, research bodies and institutions, companies and non-profit associations can submit their research and innovation projects concerning the 12 themes included in the calls in the areas of efficient use of water resources, sustainable agriculture and agri-food.
The Research and Innovation programme in the Mediterranean Area is co-funded by the European Commission and 19 countries that have joined the collaboration. The project is managed by PRIMA Foundation, chaired by Angelo Riccaboni of the University of Siena.
“PRIMA is a strategic initiative for Italy, thanks to its potential in terms of promotion of research of excellence and its value in terms of scientific diplomacy”, said Minister of Education, University and Research, Valeria Fedeli, also saying that she was very satisfied that the calls were launched following a preparation process in which MIUR has played a key role since 2012.
“The ten-year duration, the huge funding and the equal dignity between the countries of the North and the South will contribute to create a platform of dialogue between public and private players, which is crucial for sustainable and inclusive Euro-Mediterranean societies”, said Angelo Riccaboni referring to the Programme.
