Gabriella Arrigo elected Academician of the IAA

Gabriella Arrigo, a researcher at the Italian Space Agency, has recently been elected Academician of the  International Academy of Astronautics in the ‘Space Policies, Law and Economics’ section.

She is the 60th Italian and the first woman at ASI to receive this honour by the Academy that was founded in 1960 in Stockholm by the engineer, physicist and mathematician Theodore Von Karman.

I dedicate this award to young people, in particular to my students, hoping they will always be determined to reach their objectives and do so with great passion and generosity”, said Gabriella Arrigo, in ASI since 1991, Head of ASI International Relations.

Gabriella Arrigo received the honour for her academic activities, studies and research in Space Policy, for her activity in the European Master’s course in Space Policy and Institutions, at the SIOI, where she still teaches and is currently Head of the module on International Space Policy and Relations.

Scientific Advisor to the Board for Space Policy issues, since 2007 she has been a member of the Academic Council of the Mario Gulich Institute for Advanced Space Studies at the University of Cordoba, and since 2012 she has been a member of the Board of the International Space University in Strasbourg. She is also Vice President for Science & Academic Relations and Global Networking Forum at the International Astronautical Federation.
