From Nature, the research value of IOM-CNR
Nature publishing group presented the "2012 Global Top 200", a list of world scientific institutions evaluated on the basis of the number of research articles and papers that were published last year in Nature-branded journals. The only Italian institution in the list and among the first 100 organizations is the National Research Council (CNR), with 26 of its institutes.
Among them, there is the Institute for Materials Manufacturing (IOM-CNR), first for the value of its scientific contribution in the field of nanotech and convergence technologies.
IOM is located at Area Science Park in Trieste (Italy) and it promotes, coordinates and carries out high level and multidisciplinary researches. It manages a great part of the CNR activities in the field of physics of matter, through a wide network of Italian and European research centres and laboratories.
Moreover, around IOM, Area Science Park is developing the Open Lab project for the study of materials. In this field AREA has strong competencies, gained also thanks to the Elettra Synchrotron Laboratory. The Open Labs are structures where researchers’ groups from various applicative fields work together producing innovative ideas and projects for public research bodies and private enterprises. In the Open Lab of Area Science Parck the scientific and technological know how of researchers as well as a cutting edge instrumentation are available for the development of innovative solutions.
