ENI and ENEA together for research

ENI and ENEA will carry out joint activities aimed at innovation in scientific and technological research. This is the goal of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 19 July 2018 by Claudio Descalzi, CEO at Eni, and Federico Testa, President of ENEA.

ENI and ENEA will combine their experience and competences to launch joint initiatives for the implementation of innovative technological solutions.

The agreement involves the launch of research activities in scientific and technological areas that are strategic for ENI with considerable potential impact for the Country. These include: circular economy, renewable energy sources, decarbonization and environmental protection.

I am particularly pleased with this agreement”, said Claudio Descalzi. “We have several goals in common with ENEA in terms of research and innovation. This collaboration will also allow us to explore issues related to the environment and digitization, with a potentially significant impact on the Country’s economic system. Today we confirm our strategic commitment to the decarbonization process, aimed at reducing emissions, promoting the use of natural gas and developing renewable energies”.

On signing this agreement we aim to increase our collaboration with ENI, already considerable in other important joint national projects and, in particular, in the ‘National Energy Technology Cluster’ coordinated by ENEA and set up last year. Today’s agreement will enable us to develop strong synergy between ENEA’s specific competences, such as technical-scientific expertise and technology transfer to companies, and ENI’s commitment to energy and the environment, which are strategic themes for us”, said the President of ENEA, Federico Testa.
