Agreement between IBM and UCBM signed
One of the most difficult challenges of our time is the care of elderly people and chronic patients. Between 2015 and 2030, the number of people aged over 60 years could increase by 56%, going from approximately 900 million people to almost 1.5 billion. Moreover, the population aged over 60 years by 2050 is estimated to reach 2 billion.
Italy is one of the countries with the highest number of elderly people globally; therefore, it is important to train professional operators who can manage what appears to be an inexorable need. With a joint strategy, IBM and UCBM will conduct projects that bring together interdisciplinary teams from academic, scientific and technical communities to promote and support the development of new skills and to address innovation in healthcare.
The project will focus on:
- Digital transformation in healthcare: the hospital of the future
- Advanced technology: for elderly people and chronic patients
- IA, BigData and processing of natural language: personalized and precision medicine for everybody
In these areas, the aim of the UCBM and IBM partnership is to accelerate scientific discoveries and to pilot a new model of digital transformation in healthcare.
