The Ugo Bordoni Foundation (FUB) avails itself of various laboratories, both privately owned and made available by the Higher Institute of Communications and of Information Technology (ISCOM) of the Department of Communications of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, jointly utilised by the two institutions.
Among the FUB laboratories, there is the loudness laboratory. It was created in the framework of FUB’s activities to support the Italian regulator AGCOM (Communications Regulatory Authority) and with the objective to monitor audio volume of TV programmes.
In the laboratory, FUB performed several measurement campaigns to control volume of advertising in accordance with the Italian Deliberation 219/09/CSP.
More than twenty national TV networks are monitored, for an overall 10,000+ hours of recorded audio signal, that were checked by the prototype system realised by FUB, which performs measurements according to the normative in force.
