World Forum on Urban Forests
When: 11/28/2018 - 12/01/2019
The first World Forum on Urban Forests will take place from 28 November to 1 December 2018 in Mantua.
Some 400 experts from more than 50 countries around the world will get together to discuss – for the first time at the global level – urban forests.
The initiative is promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and is organized by the City of Mantua, Politecnico di Milano and the Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology (SISEF) and is managed by an international scientific committee of experts chaired by architect and urban planner Stefano Boeri and Cecil Konijnendijkl, professor at the University of British Columbia.
The event features sessions of conferences, debates, meetings and thematic discussions in three macro areas: past, present and future. The programme includes many free events across the city and a day dedicated to young people and their ideas for changing the world.
During these three days, the city of Mantua will offer a number of initiatives open to all to involve citizens in the reflection on the importance of urban forests: conferences and debates, but also concerts, exhibitions and installations, film screenings, excursions, activities for children and schools.
