The job of researchers in the adventure of the Universe and Life
In the afternoon of 1 December 2018, Teatro Municipale in Piacenza will host the meeting entitled “Il mestiere di Ricercatore nell’avventura dell’Universo e della vita” open to the general public.
The meeting will exceptionally feature Fabiola Gianotti, Director-General of CERN in Geneva, who will present a lectio magistralis on the adventure of research on the origins of the Universe by CERN, the largest physics lab in the world.
The meeting will also host speeches by Telmo Pievani of the University of Padua, who will unveil the enigmas on the evolution of life on Earth, and Paolo Soffientini from IFOM-Firc Institute of Molecular Oncology in Milan and musician, who will describe how lab research merges with music and scientific dissemination.
At the end of the day, there will be a preview of the documentary entitled “LA SCELTA. Edoardo Amaldi e la Scienza senza confini”, which tells about the prominent figure of Edoardo Amaldi, the physicist from Piacenza who contributed to the foundation of CERN in Geneva in 1954 and the setting up of ESA-European Space Agency.
