Summer School on Archaeology and Cultural Heritage of Land and Sea

The Summer School on Archaeology and Cultural Heritage of Land and Sea will take place 10 to 24 September 2017 in Procida (Naples), focusing on the practice of archaeological excavation and the new technologies for study, documentation and exhibition.

A new feature of this year’s edition is a module dedicated to innovative structural monitoring systems for the preservation of monumental structures in seismic areas, organized by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology – INGV that, together with Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples and Municipality of Procida, has launched the call in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences, Environment and Resources at University of Naples Federico II, the Department of Cultural Heritage at University of Salento and the Superintendency of the Sea of the Sicilian Region.

The training course also involves the National Research Council – CNR through the National Institute for Studies and Experiments in Naval Architecture – INSEAN, the Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment – IREA, the Institute for Research on Intelligent Automation Systems – ISSIA, and the “Nello Carrara” Institute of Applied Physics – IFAC.

The Summer School will focus on the new frontiers in the detection of, and research on marine and coastal environments.
