Cultural heritage discussed at Yococu 2018 conference

Cultural heritage preservation is the main topic of the Youth in conservation of cultural heritage 2018 conference that will be held in Matera from 22 to 26 May.
The event will focus on topics concerning research, training and infrastructures in the field of cultural heritage, a sector in which Italy is in the forefront.
The objective of the event, now in its sixth edition, is to promote dialogue and collaboration between researchers and professionals in several fields: from diagnostics to preservation of materials, from reuse and restoration of built heritage to risk analysis and mitigation, from public archaeology to the use of new digital technological approaches.
The conference also includes a remote session in connection with the United States to exchange experiences with U.S. professionals. The event will be hosted in two countries, with specific sessions dedicated to them: Iran and Georgia, which will host the Yococu 2020 edition at the University of Tbilisi.
The initiative is organized by the Youth in conservation of cultural heritage-Yococu association, CNR Institutes IBAM, for Archaeological and Monumental Heritage and ICVBC, for the Conservation and Valorization of Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with University of Calabria, University of Basilicata, with support by the High Institute for Conservation and Restoration-ISCR and under the patronage of city of Matera and Matera 2019.
The initiative is not only addressed to experts: it also aim at involving the general public, through dissemination activities aimed at improving the knowledge and use of the cultural and artistic heritage, by increasing society awareness on its protection.
