Astronomy Week begins

Where: Tutta Italia
When: 04/16/2018 - 04/21/2018

The 19th edition of the National Astronomy Week, organized by SAIT in collaboration with MIUR and in synergy with INAF, will take place from 16 to 21 April 2018.

The theme of the 2018 edition is “Spectroscopy: the scientific legacy of Father Angelo Secchi”, chosen to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Angelo Secchi, the Italian astronomer and geodesist, founder of astronomical spectroscopy.

The programme is full of initiatives, with events organized across the country for schools and beyond, including visits to INAF premises and laboratories, sky observations, lectures and conferences on the world of research and astronomy.

This year’s edition will take place in the same week as the finals of the XVI Astronomy Olympiad, which will be held in Bari from 18 to 20 April, in conjunction with the outreach activities offered by INAF during Astronomy Week.

For further information about the activities planned for the week, visit the webpages of the single INAF premises or the INAF site dedicated to didactics, or download the full programme of the week.
