Scientific cooperation between Italy and Slovenia: "Research Day" held on 15 November
On Tuesday 15 November Trieste hosted the “Research Day Italia-Slovenia”, an initiative promoted by the Minister of Education, University and Research, Stefania Giannini to encourage cooperation in scientific and technological research by sharing experiences and identifying new initiatives.
During the event, held at Area Science Park with scientific coordination by the University of Trieste and participation of the Italian Ambassador to Slovenia, Paolo Trichilo, the tools and areas in which the two countries can cooperate more strictly and better have been identified.
The aim is to extend traditional trans-border cooperation to opportunities and collaborations at the national level with joint actions, consistent with national smart specialization strategies, defined within EU Research Framework Programmes and macro-regional strategies. In this perspective of greater cooperation, joint participation to research infrastructures was also discussed.
These topics were discussed during the bilateral meeting attended by Slovenian Secretary of State, Tomaž Boh and Advisor to Minister Giannini, Francesco Grillo following the event. To date, the two countries have already signed five scientific-technological cooperation protocols and the Research Day is bound to become a stable platform to facilitate contacts and identify new collaborations between researchers of the two countries.
