Innovation: the Conference of Scientific Attachés 2017 is open
The Conference of Scientific Attachés 2017 opened on 9 January at Farnesina. The conference is attended by the topmost representatives of the world of research, academia, innovative companies and startups, convened by the Minister of Education, University and Research, Valeria Fedeli, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, to outline the new action strategies for the promotion of Italian science and technology abroad.
In her speech, Valeria Fedeli stressed the key role that research and science have in the cooperation with other countries, focusing on a few strategic priorities for the sector. “First of all, the internationalization of the research system. The National Research Programme rightly included it among its six pillars to enhance our country’s attractiveness to foreign talent and to facilitate the creation of large communities and networks that unleash the potential of our young people”, said the Minister.
“Much more can be done to attract European resources to our initiatives. It is true that people do research but research should be supported through funding and investments that in recent years, at the national level, I believe, are finally and definitely back on the political agenda and the commitments have been fulfilled.”– continued Fedeli – “Competitiveness is achieved through an increased quality of the proposals submitted and through alliances that enhance our specificities, what only we can offer to the world”, the Minister concluded.
The Conference, ending today, 10 December, brings together the network of Scientific Attachés: an important tool for the promotion of Italy’s image abroad, aimed at fostering bilateral cooperation in the research sector and support Italian excellence and international organizations.
